Required Qualifications

  • Full-time enrolment in a graduate degree program at the University of California, San Francisco
  • Work-study eligibility

Preferred Qualifications

  • Former experience in Student Affairs, intercultural work, sexuality education, or social justice programming
  • A firm understanding of LGBTQIA+ communities, intersectionality, anti-racist and social justice frameworks

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Resource Center, a division of the Office of Diversity & Outreach, provides education, information, support, and advocacy services to our UCSF campus community. The Center works toward creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and equitable environment for LGBTQIA+ students, staff, faculty, and trainees. The LGBT Resource Center aims to sustain LGBTQIA+ visibility and a sense of community throughout the campus and medical center.


LGBTQ Programming Assistant

Duties and Responsibilities
The LGBTQ Programming Assistant reports directly to the Assistant Director of the LGBT Resource Center and works closely with the Director. This position is scheduled for approximately 10-12 hours per week, with some evening hours and remote work from home flexibility. This position runs from September 2023 to June 2024. In this role, the intern will:

  • Support Assistant Director with programmatic and logistical tasks for LGBTQ events
  • Review the lgbt.ucsf.edu website and document edits needed, broken links, updated resources needed, etc. 
  • Research and identify LGBTQIA+ educational materials that focus on education, health, community, activism, leadership opportunities, and more 
  • Collaborate with the Resource Center interns on a social media strategy to bring visibility to our work 
  • Provide staffing coverage of the Resource Centers at Parnassus during open hours 
  • Attend weekly supervision meetings and professional development opportunities 
  • Other duties assigned 

LGBTQ Social Media Engagement & Communications Intern

Duties and Responsibilities
The LGBTQ Social Media Engagement & Communications Intern reports directly to the Assistant Director of the LGBT Resource Center and works closely with the Director. This position is scheduled for approximately 10-12 hours per week, with some evening hours and remote work from home flexibility. This position runs from September 2023 to June 2024. In this role, the intern will:

  • Manage all LGBT Resource Center social media profiles, including Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and Facebook
  • Develop and repost engaging content using Canva with special highlights for Coming Out Day, Pronouns Day and other LGBTQIA+ observance days
  • Create videos, reels, threads, etc., related to UCSF and/or LGBTQIA+ relevant topics and to promote upcoming Resource Center events
  • Collaborate with the Resource Center interns on a social media strategy to bring visibility to our work
  • Monitor data analytics and provide bi-weekly reports to the Assistant Director
  • Attend weekly supervision meetings and professional development opportunities
  • Other duties assigned
