Queer Institute at UCSF

Founded in 2018, the Queer Institute at UCSF is an initiative to provide mentorship and resources to LGBTQIA+ undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, and other pre-health professions scholars who are interested in a career in health care, especially those who attend an institution without affiliated health professions graduate programs. We focus on students interested in a career in medicine, nursing, dentistry, physical therapy, pharmacy, and graduate health and biomedical sciences (e.g. PhD).

We have a strong commitment to scholars who identify as underrepresented in higher education, low-income, first-generation college students, undocumented, and/or students with disabilities.

The Queer Institute's annual dinner, in conjunction with the UCSF LGBTQIA+ Health Forum, draws pre-health scholars and UCSF trainees together to discuss queer resilience, mental health in graduate school, and navigating the admissions process as LGBTQIA+
