UCSF Committee on LGBT Issues

Official Web Link

Reporting to the Vice Chancellor of Diversity and Outreach (VCDO) and the Council on Campus Climate, Culture and Inclusion (4CI), the UCSF Committee on LGBT Issues (UCSF CLGBTI) works to facilitate key initiatives and projects aimed at increasing diversity and improving the institutional climate for underrepresented groups.

The UCSF CLGBTI charge is to examine issues of concern for the UCSF LGBT Community and make recommendations to the VCDO on current issues affecting the UCSF LGBT community, including but not limited to: LGBT-related bias on campus; discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity, and other quality of campus life issues among LGBT students, trainees, staff, and faculty. The Committee is charged with vetting nominations for the Chancellor Award for LGBT Leadership. The committee will work with the Vice Chancellor’s Office and 4CI to facilitate the implementation of campus programs, activities, and procedures that address issues facing the UCSF LGBT Community and support the Chancellor’s three-year goals.

2016-2017 Co-chairs: Sue Forstat & Dr. Brent Kobashi

This is a group that has also advocated for greater campus needs of LGBTQ students, such as the inclusion of gender identity and sexual orientation in the admissions process. A large task of this group is the Annual LGBTQI Health Forum, a unique student-organized program that provides attendees the opportunity to learn more about the healthcare needs of the LGBTQI community and become better prepared to serve patients in the clinical setting.
