For over a decade, the Center for LGBT Health & Equity has advocated for greater LGBT inclusion in medical education--developing curriculum, delivering training, producing assessment tools, and consulting with medical schools throughout the U.S. Much of this work, including the UCSF LGBTI Health Forum described below, was recently featured in Academic Physician. UCSF is believed to be the first school of dentistry to form a Gay-Straight Alliance to support LGBT students, faculty, and staff and to provide information about LGBT patient concerns. The group (which combines students, faculty, and staff) meets monthly to discuss climate concerns, plan educational events, and facilitate networking.
